A dynamic or fixed, and public or private IP address?

Every device that connects to the internet is automatically assigned a unique code, the IP address. This IP address can be seen as the name of the device, so that everything that happens online can be traced back to the user. There are several options for establishing mobile connections:

Dynamic: A dynamic IP address comes from a large pool of the provider and has the property that it can change continuously when the connection is rebuilt. A dynamic IP address can be either private or public.

Fixed: A fixed (static or fixed) IP address is associated with the simcard and will not change when the connection is re-established. A fixed IP address can be either private or public.

Public: a public IP address is accessible via the internet, making it possible to reach the router or the underlying devices;

Private: A private IP address cannot be reached over the Internet because it is located behind the provider’s firewall (NAT). This private IP range can be recognized if it falls in: 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12 and 192.168.0.0/16.

What kind of security do I need?

Dynamic IP Address

Private: suitable for solutions where security is chosen and a VPN is used.

Public: with a public dynamic IP address, both the router and the underlying hardware can be accessed, provided that DDNS is used.

Fixed IP address

Private: with a private fixed IP address it is possible to have two devices communicate with each other, on a private network.

Public: with a public fixed IP address, both the router and the underlying hardware can be accessed. This includes remote monitoring of cameras.
