Thingsdata expands to Hongkong to support growing demand for global IoT services in Asia

Thingsdata, a European specialist in secure and scalable global cellular connectivity products and services, announces the opening of its Hongkong office as of March 1. The expansion reflects the rapidly growing demand for global IoT expertise among Asian enterprises operating internationally.

In recent years, Thingsdata has seen strong growth from Asian companies requiring reliable, compliant and globally scalable IoT solutions. Asian technology manufacturers, are accelerating their international deployments and increasingly require service partners capable of supporting worldwide operations. IoT connectivity enables them to monitor, service and manage assets globally, while ensuring seamless data communication.

Traditional local operator models are no longer sufficient for globally active organizations. Many networks were built for domestic or regional use and lack the architecture, roaming flexibility and governance required for large scale cross border IoT deployments. International companies are looking for services that work everywhere, without location-specific exceptions.

The introduction of the global cellular connectivity standard SGP.32 further accelerates this transition. SGP.32 enables true global eSIM orchestration, allowing enterprises to manage IoT connectivity across regions with greater flexibility and control. As adoption increases, the need for experienced international service partners becomes essential. While Thingsdata works with leading local networks worldwide, it provides a unified service tailored to global industry requirements.

“With SGP.32 and the continued globalization, the IoT market is entering a new phase. Companies no longer want fragmented regional contracts, they need globally coordinated solutions with strong local execution.”

The Hongkong office of Thingsdata will serve as  a regional hub for the Asia market, working closely with trusted partners in Japan, Korea, China and other key markets. Through these partnerships, Thingsdata ensures:

  • Local regulatory compliance and operational support,
  • Strong regional network relationships,
  • Technical expertise on site,
  • Seamless integration with global connectivity architectures.

Thingsdata remains headquartered in Europe, with offices in Amsterdam and Tallinn, and continues to operate under European governance, security and compliance standards.

The expansion into Hongkong marks a strategic step in strengthening Thingsdata’s global footprint and supporting internationally operating customers with secure, scalable and future-ready IoT products and services.
