IOT connectivity management from one platform with Thingsdata Control

Autonomous robot using Physical AI to perceive its environment and act independently

An IoT rollout with thousands of devices across multiple countries rarely runs on a single operator. Local legislation, coverage at specific locations, pricing and the need for redundancy quickly lead to two or three contracts, each with its own connectivity management platform (CMP).

Anyone who wants to know why a device at a remote location is offline or why data consumption is peaking this month logs in to multiple environments and compares the data manually. This takes time and increases the risk that an anomaly only surfaces when the invoice arrives or an installation goes down.

Thingsdata Control brings that management together in one platform. All SIM cards, routers and gateways appear in one overview, regardless of the operator.

What is Thingsdata Control?

Thingsdata Control is the operator-independent platform of Thingsdata. The platform combines the management of connectivity and hardware in one environment and is fully configured by Thingsdata. As a value added reseller, Thingsdata selects the best-fitting network operator for each customer from more than 650 networks. Thingsdata Control makes those choices visible and manageable from one place. Thingsdata now connects more than 1 million devices in over 180 countries.

Which features does Thingsdata Control offer?

Overview and control

The platform serves as one central point for connectivity and hardware. All subscription types are visible at a glance, including total data consumption. With cross-operator lifecycle management, the team manages the full lifecycle of SIM cards across all operators without opening a separate portal for each operator.

Flexibility and autonomy

SIM cards switch easily between subscriptions when the consumption or deployment of a device changes. Through eSIM management and provisioning, a device switches remotely to a local network. The connection is continuously monitored, adjusted and fine-tuned via Thingsdata Control, without a site visit or technician. Through the API, Thingsdata Control connects directly to the organization’s own business-specific application, so connectivity data ends up in the systems the team already works with.

Control over costs and risks

Custom IoT dashboards and reports provide insight into consumption per SIM card, subscription and operator. Alerts for abnormal consumption flag a problem the moment it occurs. These insights form the basis for cost optimization, for example by moving SIM cards to a better-fitting subscription.

Less administration

All management data is stored centrally in one place. The team switches less between systems and spends less time manually merging exports from different portals.

When does central IoT connectivity management pay off?

Central management delivers the most value for organizations whose IoT environment is growing. With every new operator, every new country and every additional subscription type, the number of separate management environments increases. With a fleet of hundreds or thousands of devices, every minute spent searching translates directly into higher management costs and longer response times during outages. Organizations that want to control the configuration of their IoT connectivity themselves, without depending on an operator for every change, take that control into their own hands with Thingsdata Control.

How does the setup of Thingsdata Control work?

Thingsdata handles the complete setup of the platform and takes care of onboarding. There is no need to build a management system of your own before the team can get started. Thingsdata is ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified by DEKRA.
